John Trowbridge, 60, A retired police captain from Lockport has pleaded guilty to a charge that he knowingly transporting a female from the Western New York area to Kentucky with the intent that the female engage in prostitution in Kentucky.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy C. Lynch, who handled the Trowbridge prosecution along with Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert C. Moscati, stated the defendant admitted that in late October 2005, he along with others transported the woman from the Western New York area to Kentucky and intended for the woman to engage in prostitution in Kentucky with members of a men’s organization of which the defendant is a member.
In Trowbridge’s plea agreement, he further admitted to transporting a different woman from the Western New York area to Pennsylvania, in the Fall of 2006. The defendant admitted the purpose of transporting this woman to Pennsylvania was for this woman to engage in prostitution with members of the same men’s organization.
U.S. Attorney Flynn observed that the woman who was transported in interstate commerce was an illegal alien and noted that the case highlights how vulnerable certain segments of our society are. Flynn stated that the Department of Justice will not tolerate the victimization of any member of the community, especially by those who, because of their standing in the community, can easily intimidate those who are least able to protect themselves.
This man take the lives of these women and all he get's is 10 years?! I'm a sheriff's deputy in FL and I have seen several cases of human trafficking where the trafficker received less time for this type of crime. What are we telling these people as a government when you face more time for transporting drugs then you do with humans?? Our government needs to wake up, people who take part in these unthinkable acts should be sentenced to death.
